Suspension sping.
This was THE most important break through in getting the penulum to behave consistantly.
This replaced the ball bearing I was using. This is a "suspension spring", just like whats used in quality grand father clocks.
I made this out of a feeler guage and two tiny squares of aluminum. This is what the pendulum hangs from.
This made the pendulum swinging/timing much MUCH more consistant and reliable! (this concept was invented by Christiaan Huygens around 1650 and still used today)
